A 1999 study 1999 by The National Council on the Aging (NCOA) surveyed over 2,000 adults over 50 that are hearing impaired. The resulted indicated that people with untreated hearing loss are more likely to report:
- Anxiety
- Depression, sadness and hopelessness
- Reduced participation in social activities
